Need Employees? You Need the #FortWayne 2016 Job Fairs

Due to the overwhelming success for the employers who joined WOWO radio and Federated Media during the two Fort Wayne Job Fairs we hosted in 2015, we have two Fort Wayne Job Fairs planned in 2016.

Two job fairs planned for 2016 in April & October

Two job fairs planned for 2016 in April & October

At the last job fair, some employers waited too long to be included and we ended up with a waiting list of 20 companies that were left out because they simply did not register in time to secure a booth and we sold out all of our booth space.  Don’t let this happen to you.

We promote the Fort Wayne Job Fairs on all of our Federated Media radio stations including our host station WOWO.  Along with WOWO listeners, there will also be listeners to WMEE< K-105, ESPN, Big 92.3, and 98.9 The Bear coming to the Fort Wayne Job Fairs.  We use the full strength and power of these stations online presence too. All ages, all skill levels, all types from all over Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio will be joining us to talk to H. R. folks as they seek their next career opportunity.

The event is free to attend, only cost is for the employers that want a booth.  We have room for 50, but once again, we will have some who wait and will be left out.

Bottom line: Do you need to recruit employees this year?  Contact me, Scott@WOWO.com . I have multiple ways for you to find the candidates you need including these job fairs along with using our radio stations and online digital targeting campaigns.  We’ll set up a time to meet and review your needs and figure out which options are best.

How To Find Employees In Fort Wayne, Indiana

I noticed a profound turn of the tables on the employment front this year.  Back in March after a trip to Michigan, I started seeing help wanted signs everywhere.  A friend of mine started a Facebook Group to match employers with job seekers and now has over 6,000 members!

Unemployment in Allen County, Indiana where Fort Wayne is located is under 5% this summer.  The best employees have jobs.  The ways to fill your openings with the best employees is not to look for the unemployed, but to reach out to those who are already getting a paycheck, in most cases. 6707423_G

I know from personal experience that while the size of a paycheck is important, there are plenty of other reasons people leave and take other positions including the work environment, people they work with, promotional opportunities and the like… are reasons for someone to consider a change.

Today in 2015, people are not going to hang on to a job they hate just for the money.  But they may not be actively looking on the job boards either.

You as an employer need to be proactive and reach them where they are. And here’s where they are:

Over 90% of adults listen to local radio every week according to RAB.com.

The Fort Wayne radio station with the largest number of adults ages 21 to 64? WOWO radio.

And there are plenty of folks working beyond age 64.  I know several in their 70’s and older.

WOWO has another distinct advantage over other local stations.  WOWO is a news/talk radio station.  People tune in to listen to the talking.  It is Brain Food.  Compare this to music radio stations which people tune in to for music, not talking.  Talk on a music station is irritating. And unfortunately commercials are talk.

Right now, I have a few recruitment solutions for companies that need to find the best employees available in the Fort Wayne area.  With over 100,000 adults listening to WOWO every week, we can help you invite them to apply and work for you.

Those solutions include WOWO’s radio broadcasts, along with several digital elements that we can add to target your ideal candidates.

It doesn’t matter if you are hosting your own job fair or need to find employees on an ongoing basis. Part time, full time, seasonal, I can help you design a recruitment campaign for your company needs.   Call or text me at 260-255-4357 or email Scott@WOWO.com and let’s get going!

#FortWayne Focus: August

Today I want to call your attention to an event that will occur in Fort Wayne in December. But you need to submit an application this month of August.

WOWO’s Penny Pitch has been a tradition since 1948.

Urgent Update (8/17/15): It was announced this morning, “This year, Penny Pitch donations will be MATCHED by Brigadoon Fitness, thanks to Bruce Dye.  The WOWO Brigadoon Fitness Penny Pitch this year will also select multiple charities.  Have you applied yet?”

Here’s more from the webpage:

Penny Pitch, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for community service organizations serving Fort Wayne, Allen County and Northeast Indiana. In the spirit of the original Penny Pitch drive in 1948, Penny Pitch, Inc. provides grants to qualified not-for-profit organizations that serve disadvantaged people in the Fort Wayne, Allen County and Northeast Indiana region.

Click on the logo or here to get more info.  Last year a new record was set as over $130,000 was raised by Fort Wayne area listener donations.

I found this old article from 2008 that explains the first 60 year history of WOWO’s Penny Pitch.

#FortWayne Focus: July

Summertime is overwhelming in Northeast Indiana.  If you can’t find something to do, you are simply not looking.  The Three Rivers Festival kicks off July 10th and there are plenty of other things too.

So I’m going to direct your attention to a community just southwest of Fort Wayne and give you some time to plan.  I’m talking about Roanoke, Indiana.  This is the second year for the Rolling Into Roanoke Car Show on July 25th this year.  Get the scoop here or click on their logo below.logo-large

#FortWayne Focus: June

There are just too many things going on in my hometown these days.  When I returned to Fort Wayne, Indiana in the summer of 1998 we had the opposite problem.  Not that too many options is really a problem.

A few years ago, I used to post a Fort Wayne site of the day, for nearly 3 years straight to create a stronger online community.  Last year I reduced it to 52 websites on a weekly basis and this year, one each month.

During these summer months when there is so many options for activities, I decided to pick a website that features what has become one of my favorite food festivals.  And in the interest of full disclosure,  the organizers of this event spend money with me on my radio station, WOWO and others to promote this event.  However, this article is unrelated to that… I just think that with all the events going on in town, you should really consider this one an annual destination.

Now in their 18th year and opening today at 11:30 through Sunday, it’s Ribfest time!
