#FortWayne Focus February 2015

#FortWayne Focus February 2015

Online Videos have been attracting a bigger and bigger share on our viewing time as each year passes. I recall 10 years ago when over 80% of Fort Wayne had cable TV but that number has been shrinking.  That number came from a local TV executive that was trying to hire me to run their online operation.

So this month’s Fort Wayne Focus is a YouTube Channel that will take you around town and introduce you to some of the sights and sounds of Fort Wayne.  We’ll start with this one from last November that took a look at downtown coffee shops:

Subscribe to their channel and review some of their previous videos too.

Right now they are looking for you.  The call for speakers ends at the end of this month.

That is Saturday.

Go here today and discover how you can qualify and submit to be one of the chosen speakers for 2015.

2 out of the past 3 years I have been involved in the selection process and it’s not easy to pick from the variety of submissions.

This year I plan on being involved in the promotion like I was the first year.

If you want to help, we could use you too. Just fill out the contact info at the bottom of the home page at http://www.tedxfortwayne.com/ .

Learning from Others: Social Media Breakfast in #FortWayne

Tomorrow, Tuesday January 27th is the 44th (almost) monthly Fort Wayne Social Media Breakfast organized by my friend and former co-worker Kevin Mullett.

If you are within driving distance, you should join us.

There should be between 50 and 75 social media people in attendance with one thing in common,  They want to learn.logo

11 months out of 12, usually on the last Tuesday of the month we meet and learn. And my apologies to Kevin for continuing to call it the Social Media Breakfast.  Last year, he officially changed it to Social and Marketing Breakfast, to recognize that most of the people where interesting in the business and marketing relevance to social media.

Most of those in attendance are on Twitter and you can follow along with the hashtag #SMBFW.   Want more info?  You can ask me on Twitter @ScLoHo, or Kevin @KMullett.

Over the years I have featured hundreds of Fort Wayne area websites on my website and previously on a couple of blogs.  A couple years I posted a link to a different Fort Wayne site every day.

Last year I slowed the pace down to one per week and was able to post links to 53 different websites.

The web has changed over the past 10 years.  Search Engines are more intuitive and we have become smarter when we are looking for something online.  So this year, I am planning on featuring 12 noteworthy Fort Wayne websites.

If you ever wonder what is going on in Downtown Fort Wayne, you need to visit and bookmark this site.

2014 #FortWayne Site of the Week

2014 #FortWayne Site of the Week

Wrapping up the year with a total of 52 #FortWayne based websites.  And this is the last in a series I began years ago, when I was actually doing a Fort Wayne Site of the Day, Every Single Day.  Over the years use of the web has become more and more mainstream and the way we use it has changed too.  Now when you are looking for something local, you have either learned to add Fort Wayne to your search or, Google already knows you are in Fort Wayne.  Thus the need to promote local websites as regularly as I have in the past isn’t required.  I’m not abandoning my promotion of my hometown in 2015, but it is about to change in how I do so.  In the meantime, to visit this weeks site, click on the pic below.
