Besides writing about media, marketing and all that stuff, today I’m going to dip into the personal side of ScLoHo.
As the legend goes, a few years ago my wife received a gift from her sister.
It was this stand up doll that she probably picked up at a garage sale and gave to my wife as a joke as we were empty-nesters. This doll was given the name Penelope Anne and when we moved about 11 months ago, Penelope snuck into one of the boxes and was hiding for a few months.
At the end of winter, she was discovered and we needed to have a little talk.
At first, she denied everything.
Then she begged forgiveness.
Finally, we told her we would find her a home and gave her a Killian’s.
Last month was the big day. We took Penelope Anne with us to Calhoun Soup, Salad and Spirit’s for dinner. It was a special day because we were there to spend some time with my son Josh and his wife Madeline before they move to South Carolina.
We think Penelope enjoyed herself, maybe a little too much.
When it was time to go, Penelope tried hiding again under the table.
However a little bit of alcohol lured her out again and we said our goodbyes.
The story has a happy ending. Just the other day we visited Calhoun Soup Salad and Spirit’s for dinner and they showed us Penelope Anne in her new home!
Next time you’re at Calhoun Soup Salad and Spirit’s in Fort Wayne, look up and wave to Penelope Anne!
